Description:

Situated along the tropical coast of the Caribbean, our PADI dive resort of 17 years, is now for sale. Our husband and wife team started the dive shop in 2007 and have built an amazing operation. With nearly 40 years of scuba experience and 25 years as a PADI instructor, there is not much about diving that our owner doesn't know. We maintain the core principles of client satisfaction, meaningful scuba instruction and a solid commitment to diver safety. In doing so, we have created a loyal following of clients and an excellent reputation in the recreational scuba industry. All of our growth and success has been organic. We have not had to pay out for advertising. Our genuine passion for the sport of scuba diving is infectious!

Our dive resort is located just two km from the town center in Puerto Morelos, a cute but fast growing fishing village, considered the gateway to the Riviera Maya. We are a part of Marina El Cid Beach and Spa Resort, a popular, all inclusive resort with over 1,000 rooms. There are two other all inclusive resorts within walking distance of our location. In the town center there are condo rentals, hostels and boutique hotels. We are the exclusive scuba diving operation in the marina, so clients enjoy a dry entry from the pier to the boat. Our boats are moored just steps from the dive center. The training pool is a short, 4 minute walk from the dive shop office. We have three boats with a total maximum capacity of 30 divers per tour and we can schedule two tours daily.

The Meso-American reef is the second largest barrier reef in the world. It is just a 10 minute boat ride from our pier and the local diving is excellent. The Puerto Morelos National Park has been protecting the local reefs for more than 20 years. We have over 35 dive sites in a variety of dive profiles, many sites that are only known to our dive center. We have been exploring sites and developing dive profiles and maps for 20 years in Puerto Morels. Two of our boats have local permits to the Puerto Morelos National Park, so there are no sites that are off limits. There are easy shallow reefs that are full of life and perfect for student training and photography, and that all diver skill levels can enjoy. There are deep sites where the currents are strong and the sea life is big and abundant. The local shipwreck, C-56 Juan Escuitia, is a site that attracts intermediate and advanced divers to observe the spotted eagle rays in the winter season. There are two other "shipwrecks" that are in our repertoire, both of unknown origin. One, we call C-40, sits in the sand at 60 feet of water. Very often there are strong currents at C-40 so it is an advanced dive, even though it is relatively shallow. The other wreck is called the Tulum. It is at the very edge of recreational scuba, the depth is 130 feet and the structure is broken into at least four pieces. The Tulum is restricted to very advanced divers.

To round out the Riviera Maya experience, we offer day trips to the cenotes (fresh water caverns). The caverns of Mexico are very famous and are a huge draw for international divers. There are cenotes that are easy and shallow for intermediate divers and some that are more advanced with deeper depths. There are even shallow cenotes where we can finish Open Water to Advanced courses if diving in the ocean is not possible due to bad weather. The sculpture park in Cancun is an option for novice to intermediate divers who want to see something different and interesting, excellent for the instagram crowd. Even the walls of Cozumel are accessible as a day trip. Our largest boat holds the permits to dive the northern reefs of Cozumel, where not many boats go, so we have the walls to ourselves. For small groups who want to dive the south end of Cozumel, we have an excellent relationship with the three boats in Playa del Carmen. Those tours leave directly from the beach to avoid the hassle of the ferries and cut out 3 hours of commute time. In the winter months, Playa del Carmen is blessed with the bull shark migration. The congregation of pregnant bull sharks has been a growing attraction for the last 9 years and is an excellent draw for adventure divers.

In addition to our primary Marina location, we have a satellite location on the north end of Playa del Carmen at a Five Diamond resort. This posh destination is an attraction to high-end clientele. We are the exclusive scuba operator for that property and offer a variety of tours from that location.

Other revenue streams include snorkeling tours, private tours to the Maya Ruins of the Yucatan and Whale Shark snorkeling tours in the summer months. There are so many opportunities to assist clients with the booking of other excursions, most of which gain a commission for the service.

Our three boats are:
Pontoo: 29ft fiberglass hull with sun shade, single 4 stroke 150 hp Yamaha engine, holds 8 divers, Permits for the Puerto Morelos National Park
Rio: 33ft fiberglass hull with sun shade, double 4 stroke 115 hp Yamaha engines, holds 10 divers, Permits for the Puerto Morelos National Park
Xoc: 37ft fiberglass hull with half cabin and captain tower, double 4 stroke 200 hp Yamaha engines, holds 12 divers, Permits for the Northern Biosphere region of Cozumel's National Park

This sale is for the BUSINESS ONLY - The location is leased, not included in the sale. You’ll be purchasing a "turnkey" Dive Center operation, including all the furnishings, diving equipment, three boats, user friendly website/booking platform and customer database of over 17 years. We aim for a seamless transition for continued success. This is a rare opportunity to step into a well-established business with high ratings and a stellar reputation.

Reason for Selling:

We are now in our 50s and we are seeking new adventures that are less physically demanding.
