Great opportunity to grow the business for new owners. There are many embassies, schools and universities and hotel resorts that Pacific Paradise Divers could partner with and offer courses and fun dives. We currently do three trips a year to other dive spots such Belize, Roatan and Utila but new owners could expand the travel side of the business. We are Mares distributors and new owners can bring in other lines of equipment such as Cressi or Scuba Pro and expand the retail sales.
Some items for the new owners to consider are the following opportunities:
1.) Target embassies to offer scuba classes. We currently certify the children of US embassy employees in the Boy Scout program. These are kids from 10 to 18 years of age. There is a badge for the Boy Scouts for scuba diving. We have not really been aggressive in selling the parents on scuba classes and this is a good opportunity. We also have not targeted other countries embassies.
2.) There are various private schools that charge up to $5,000 per month in tuition and we have always had the idea to market our services to the students there as their parents are well off.
3.) Hotels can also be approached by offering attractive dive packages for their guests.
4.) We have certified various university students in the marine biology and marine archaeology programs. This market can be further developed.
5.) Commercial diving is handled by one dive center here and we have been offered opportunities to quote projects but we decided we are too old for this type of work. My wife Nuria is a US certified commercial diver and has worked for British Petroleum in the Gulf of Mexico years ago but it is not her thing at this time. New owners could easily enter this market if they were so inclined.
Something the other potential buyers have asked about is immigration. A good friend of ours is an immigration attorney and also a diver. She informs us that a foreigner buying a business here in El Salvador will have absolutely no problem getting permanent residency. It is an easy process and she can handle everything at a very reasonable cost.
