I'm headed to get my PADI OWSI/MSDT in early 2018. I'm selling my stuff and my house first, so I'll have a blank slate when I'm done with my training. I'll be ready to paint my masterpiece on a blank canvas. Initially I wanted to travel & work on a liveaboard, maybe pursue my captains license. After poking around here I have a new idea- buy the liveaboard. Have 4-6 solid, capable Dive Professionals as partners that rotate on/off the boat. Work in a Dive Center or travel when its your month off. Maybe partner with a Dive Center. I haven't quite figured it out yet. But I'm very interested in owning a Phinisi and getting involved hands-on in the lucrative Liveaboard industry. I think we could find a working boat with existing operations crew in place for around $4000,000 US for a 100 foot boat that could charter up to 8 people. $100k to $150k per owner buys you into a shareholders position, which could later be sold to new investors or dissolved and bought out by existing partners. We need to be skilled people who bring something extra to the operation besides knowledge and safety in the dive environment. Me, I'm a chef and a musician as well as a handyman. So I can fix stuff, entertain the guests and run the kitchen if needed. We need and engineer minded guy, maybe a boat captain as well. So with these specialties we can pay less out per month and make handsome profits. Maybe a numbers guy with experience doing this so we know how much money to save for maintenance, what our revenue projection would be, etc.... Spell the existing crew from these duties on their needed month off. I know nothing of the area other than the diving is spectacular and these ships are very accommodating, seaworthy and strong.
